To Set Me Free
Let me taste your pale lips
almost dry against my own
does not matter the month or season
does not matter the rhyme or reason
i want to feel those lips beneath my own
kiss you once and twice and not feel alone
see the passing light on your face move
in my whispers tell you what life does prove
how there can be hurt and deeper pain
how after some things we are never the same
and yet we want to go back to the start
be as we were before life took us apart
once more I want to kiss your lips
see if in a kiss if into life past world slips
and if the world should remain unchanged
as past remains beyond our grasp and out of range
in kissing those pale lips I once knew better
perhaps still the best of life I can remember
the heat and roar of passion before the cold
and maybe in a kiss the thaw will take a hold
peel back these numb layers fossilized of me
allow me to find a path from the past to set me free.

are they Death or future or past for whom I did fall
